Holding on
A shared reflection.
Click to listen
Holding On grew out of the everyday reality of caring - those quiet moments of gentleness, exhaustion, patience and love that shape life for everyone affected by dementia.
It’s a shared reflection - an acknowledgment of the challenges, the tenderness, and the resilience found in dementia care.
I hope it honours the everyday courage and the powerful connections that hold people together even as life changes around them.
The carer
doing their best to stay steady through fatigue
The nurse
offering comfort with compassion
The daughter & grandchildren
trying to stay connected through the changes
The dementia sufferer
fearful but fighting to enjoy life as memories slip
Each voice interweaves with the others, reflecting their courage and how deeply their experiences are connected.
No one carries this alone; everyone is holding on in their own way.
Music composed by Tomas Barrios of Argentina and brought to life by the warm, expressive voice of Chelsea Moe from the USA.
I hope the result is a piece that resonates with anyone who has cared for, loved, or walked alongside someone living with dementia.
