A Crazy Kind of Cruel - Loving You
A Song of Acceptance.

This song comes out of all the contradictions that caring for someone with dementia brings: love and exhaustion, grief and loyalty, anger and tenderness existing side by side.
It is sung by the daughter, Jane, who has lived with the weight of a difficult relationship with her mother long before dementia entered the picture. Old wounds, unmet needs, and years of resentment surface as the illness progresses, making the role of carer emotionally complex and, at times, overwhelming.
After a tough beginning, Jane slowly reaches a place of acceptance. She accepts her role as a carer and also comes to accept that her mother did the best she could.
In letting go of resentment, she finds space for compassion and love - for her mother and for herself. The song is ultimately about commitment and grace.
The music is written by the very talented and wonderful composer, Tomas Barrios, from Argentina and sung by the talented Chelsea Moe from the USA.
