Nurse. Carer. Writer.
Hello, I’m Aggie,
For many years I’ve been caring for my mother who lives with dementia.
This site is where I share creative work shaped by my experience - writing and musical ideas that have grown alongside my work as a nurse and my background in politics.
My writing offers an uplifting and often unexpected perspective on dementia. Not by pretending it is easy - it isn’t - but by embracing the wit, the determination, the fear and moments of unexpected grace that appear when you least expect them.
I am very aware that dementia can be overwhelming and deeply painful, and I never want to minimise that reality. But I do believe that with the right care, the right support, and the right understanding, it is possible to make this journey a little gentler.
Through plays and music I explore dementia and care from a lived experience that is rarely written about. My hope is to bring this work to life in simple, accessible forms - perhaps as a short play, a small operetta, or a mobile musical that could travel to community settings, care environments, or educational spaces, helping to open conversations and deepen understanding.
This creative work is my way of exploring - and sharing - that possibility.
I
Whether you’re a theatre lover, a carer, or simply curious about stories that explore what lasts, what’s found, and what matters in dementia, I hope the ideas and songs will move you or make you laugh or simply give you something to think about afterwards.
Thank you for dropping by. x
